New Roots has a team of fun, passionate and creative people from a variety of backgrounds and lived experience e.g. students, ex-military, Social Workers, Youth Workers, care and support workers as well as business support staff. Our volunteer service broadens the diversity of the team and the range of skills, knowledge and experience we can draw upon.

About the Role
A positive attitude and a ‘can do’ approach is required to undertake this challenging role and improve the lives and future opportunities of young people age 18 - 25 living in temporary accommodation, through the provision of trauma informed, strength based and person centred support, training and group work.
You will use a trauma informed, strengths based approach, to work with young people, to coproduce and implement support plans, that enable young people, to address their needs, set goals for the future, build confidence, resilience and self esteem so that they can reach their potential.
You will promote young people's independence supporting them to progress through the levels of service - helping them develop relevant skills to sustain accommodation within the local community.
In addition you will take responsibility for day-to-day operational decisions, support team members and line manage allocated staff within the HUB team structure.
You will have:
A recognised Youth & Community/Social Work/Housing qualification or have substantial experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviours and be willing to commence an appropriate qualification within 1 year of starting the role (and achievement within an agreed period).
Experience of managing, developing and motivating paid staff, dealing will conflict and performance management issues.

Key Responsibilities
Support service users identified with significant, intensive and complex needs.
Build positive relationships with young people to enhance successful engagement.
Develop and review, in negotiation with young people and other professionals, co-
ordinated packages of support that meet their needs.
Provide information, support, signposting and advocacy.
Maintain up-to-date specialist knowledge around current issues, legislation
and best practice for supporting young people with high and intensive needs.
Develop tools and resources for working with young people to manage and/or
change behaviour.
Deliver and embed support using therapeutic and psychologically informed approaches.
Plan and review support plans.
Complete and update dynamic risk assessments.
Support referrals to transition from residential or secure facilities into spot purchase/DPS services and further progress into SAP provision.
To proactively work with the Management team to develop and deliver alternative ways of supporting a young person where more regular means of support has failed or is likely to fail.
Supervise and offer support to staff through line management processes. · Engage regularly in group reflective practice.
